Coronation Street spoilers: Explosive storyline planned for Jim McDonald

Coronation Street has confirmed an explosive return story in store for Jim McDonald when he returns later this year. With Charles Lawson reprising his role as the currently jailed hot head, Jim will arrive back in time for Steve’s wedding to Tracy Barlow after being released.’

Jim was last seen being dragged away screaming with rage after Steve turned him over to the screws for his criminal behaviour behind bars. So will he have a score to settle when he arrives back?

Metro.co.uk previously revealed news of Jim’s return, with our show source confirming:’With Jim’s release date from prison approaching later this year, it is indeed something that Coronation Street bosses are in talks about. Bringing back Jim seems inevitable and a great way to stir up drama.

‘It is certainly the plan that we will see Jim on the cobbles again which will give Liz and Steve plenty to do. Any return would be closer to the end of the year than any time in the immediate future. But it seems more of a case of when rather than if.’

A spokesperson for the show confirmed: ‘Jim is such a hugely popular character. We’re delighted he is coming back for what will be a typically explosive Jim storyline.’

Coronation Street legend Jim McDonald to make “explosive” return to the cobbles after finally being released from prison

The popular character, first played by actor Charlie Lawson nearly 30 years ago, is due for release and will be back on TV in the coming weeks

Coronation Street hardman Jim McDonald is set to make an ‘explosive’ return after being jailed for armed robbery in 2011.

Charlie, 58, revealed: ‘They wanted me back full time this year but I couldn’t do it as I am doing Rebus on stage, and a thriller. I’m going to film a bit but then will be back again next year.’

A Corrie spokesman said: ‘Jim is such a hugely popular character. We’re delighted he is coming back for what will be a typically explosive Jim storyline.’

Northern Ireland-born Charlie quit the cobbles after 11 years as Jim, known for his catchphrase ‘so it is’, in 2000 but returned in 2010.
