Jahni Simmons’s left-footed strike in the final minute sealed a 1-0 win over Barbados on Tuesday to remain top of their group with a pair of wins, two points ahead of Cura’ao.

Vance Brown, the Bermuda coach, whose side beat Antigua and Barbuda in their opener on Monday, expected it to be a close match against Barbados.

‘We knew going into this match that it was going to be difficult so we had to battle to get a result,’ Brown said. ‘Danni Watson and Zemira Webb definitely were solid at the back and Emily Cabral and Jahni Simmons played well.’

It was Cabral’s run down the left flank that created the opening for 12-year-old Simmons to control the ball before driving a shot past the Barbados goalkeeper.
