Racing out to a giant’lead, the Crusaders never looked back on their way to a 51-27 victory over visiting West Florida’in the Florida High School Athletic Association Region 1-4A girls basketball championship.

The Crusaders (20-9) next travel to the RP Funding Center in Lakeland, where they’ll meet Lake Highland Prep ‘ ranked third nationally in the ESPNW Top 25 ‘at 10 a.m. Feb. 25 in a state semifinal.

Pre-registration for some Islander Day activities delayed as City of Charlottetown works to repair website

The City of Charlottetown says it is working to get its website functioning again as soon as possible.

The city issued a news release Monday saying pre-registration for some Islander Day activities ‘ including family skates, basketball camps and movie screenings ‘ has been delayed until Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Florida early voting draws heavy crowds

Florida smashed its previous first day early voting record and continued to see dramatic voter turnout through the first week of the early voting period.

Sumter County is on pace to surpass its high mark. Available records through 1996 show Sumter’s current high is 84.4% turnout in the 2016 general election. The Sumter County elections office reports that more than half ‘ 58% precisely ‘ have already made their ballot decisions. More than 34,000 were cast in vote-by-mail and more 26,000 took advantage of the first week of early voting.
