Plant’s Leonard Parker commits to USF

Plant ATH Leonard Parker became USF’s fifth commitment from the Class of ’19 when he announced his pledge via Twitter. A tailback/defensive back for the Panthers, Parker (5-foot-11, 188 pounds) projects as a wide receiver in college.

Because of the general fragility of non-binding verbal commitments, especially in the summer, we typically lend little credence to them unless a prominent local prospect makes one.

On Thursday, one such prospect — from a school with a solid history of honoring pledges — did just that.

Currently, USF’s modest ’19 class is ranked ninth in the American Athletic Conference by 247Sports, but it should pick up steam over the next two weekends as the Bulls host a series of mini-camps featuring coaches from Oregon, Nebraska, Ohio State and Georgia Tech, among others.

Tampa Plant WR Leonard Parker Verbally Commits to USF Football

USF received some good news from a hometown kid on Thursday afternoon as Tampa Plant WR Leonard Parker verbally committed to the Bulls.

Playing mostly running back on offense and corner on defense for Plant, #BayMade product is projected as a wide receiver at the collegiate level.

He showed his pass catching abilities on the Panthers’ Class 7A final four team last season, receiving several screens in the backfield from USF Class of 2018 signee Jordan McCloud.
