Holbrook: One USF, Geographically Distributed – Sarasota Herald

It has been some time since I have offered an update on the consolidation of the three University of South Florida campuses, and I am pleased to review the great progress that has been made thus far.

The Florida Excellence in Higher Education Act of 2018 was signed into law nearly 20 months ago. Since then, hundreds of individuals have collectively worked on a comprehensive plan to consolidate the three separately accredited USF campuses in Tampa, Sarasota-Manatee and St. Petersburg, into “One USF, Geographically Distributed” by July 1, 2020.

Shortly after the legislation became law, committees, subcommittees, task forces, working teams and clusters were formed to develop a plan that will accomplish what Rep. Chris Sprowls envisioned when he introduced the legislation in early 2018.

Sunburn ‘ The morning read of what’s hot in Florida politics ‘ 11.15.19

Florida Politics Publisher Peter Schorsch has graciously given me his prize platform to say goodbye to readers after my nearly 4′ years writing and editing here. Today is my last day.

In 2015, he took a chance on this mainstream media refugee, then the Tampa Tribune’s man in the capital. Little did I know I was to be the second-to-last Tallahassee correspondent for that now-defunct paper. In any event, there aren’t enough ‘thanks’ to say to him.

Over the years, I honed my expertise in all things booze, pot and gambling-related as the in-house ‘sin beat’ reporter.
